A coach should never put words in someone's mouth. I've seen a few videos of late where coaches attempt to 'guide' people by simply giving their perceived opinion upon a situation, and pushing that upon their client in a forceful attempt at a 'breakthrough'.
In my opinion this does not create lasting change. It may get a short term result, but ongoing, you need to be able to make sure the client can connect the dots themselves.
Your job as a coach or someone of guidance is to help them see the lessons in their past (both good and bad, and how they served) as well as helping them see the opportunities that lie in the future (and how to maximise the chances of success).
This is done through knowing the right questions to ask to illicit the best response...not by shoving words down their throat or ideas in their head.
