Self Responsibility....! (Cut those excuses in half)

In this episode I teach you three simple ways so you can start to cut those excuses in half and take full control of your life. I struggled with this for years and was always playing the blame game.

It wasn't until I elevated myself and learned that it was necessary to grow up and always look how I could HELP in the situation or assist in a better outcome that I truly started to grow.

Ladies and Gentlemen, Hayden Wilson here for Learn, Share, Grow live, Episode 15 and I’m coming to you in the seated position again, as I did yesterday, without the whiteboard behind me.

Stick with me – this is a live show, I am human, you know, little stuff ups and sentence stutters are all part of it, but that’s part of learning so thank you for sticking with me.

Today we’re talking all about self responsibility. This is a big thing that a lot of people struggle with. There are many people out there who are excuse makers, they love to play the blame game and they think that every situation should have some sort of owner of the blame.

The reality is, it doesn’t really matter who is to blame, it’s how are going to fix that. What are the steps that we’re going to put into place to stop this from happening again and, taking responsibility, how could I have stopped this, even if it wasn’t really ‘your fault’. So the first thing I want you to do is to the ‘I am responsible’ mindset.

So I want you to repeat after me . . . "I am responsible".

Once you can realise that self realisation we talked about earlier this week – once you can realise that everything around you is a result of something that you’ve done, like your car, your job, your possessions, your relationships, all of this is happening because of what you’ve set up. When you start to realise all these things are a result of something that you’ve done or something that you’ve learned, or actions that you’ve taken, we can start putting measures into place to change these things.

The second thing I want you to do is to realise that levelling up is your responsibility. You need to become self responsible and look at the skills you aren’t proficient at and start to decide where can I get better at this, what skills do I need to become more proficient in the marketing industry, or to be better at sales, or be a better communicator.

Once you have that realisation then we can start to stop the damage and get better at them. So in order to help this you need to start setting some goals. We’re going to do a whole week on goal setting but whether they’re big, they’re small, whatever size they are, you just need to get those goals inside of your head, on where you want to improve and start to put procedures into place to get it happening, to get it rolling. The third thing I want to talk to you about, is what I call the ‘no excuses challenge’.

For the next five days I want you to take full responsibility for all of the actions within your life. Whether that be with relationships, whether that be with your current job role, or whether that be with your personal fitness and health goals. Now, are you slacking, can you take responsibility, are you making excuses like ‘oh, my knee, or my back’.

Maybe you should start to put some practises in place where you strengthen your back, look at other options – it’s not an excuse, it’s no longer acceptable. I want you to start saying stuff like ‘it’s no longer acceptable to blame my back’, because you’ve been saying that for 5 years and you’ve never done anything to strengthen your back so is this just going to continue for the next 5, 10 or 20 years until you can’t even bend down at all. Or are you going to strengthen your back and start to speak to different people, do some research and find out what you can actually do to help strengthen your back – and that’s just one area of your life.

You may think of your diet and think of ways that you could start becoming responsible for different areas. Are you eating too much, too much sugar, too much flour, too many processed carbs or are you on point with that

Start to analyse where you are with your goals and take the 5 day challenge, no excuses. Then we can start to identify where you went wrong, accept the blame for what you are doing wrong and realise that, back to point no. 1, where you are responsible and we’ve taken that into account, and then we can work on a plan to make sure that this doesn’t continuously happen.

Once we have the plan then the rest of the pieces of the puzzle just fall into place because we know where we’re at, we know what we need to do and we can go out there and get it done.
